Leadbetter & Good is named after the fabulous 70’s sitcom ‘The Good Life’ starring Penelope Keith, Felicity Kendall, Paul Eddington and Richard Briers. While trying to think of a name for the shop, one half of which was filled with lovely things for the home, and the other half filled with garden tools, pots, seeds and books on the countryside, allotments and foraging, I thought ‘it’s the perfect shop whether you’re a Margo or a Barbara’! I went home and looked up an old episode and thought their surnames, Leadbetter (Margo & Gerry) and Good (Barbara & Tom) would make a perfect shop name. Often customers say our name sounds familiar and we point to this photo by the till and suddenly it all makes sense.
